Life in Grays Harbor & Tacoma – Western Washington
1928 – Death of Thoralf Gulleson (1896-1928)
Thoralf was born in April 1896 and died in 1928 one month short of turning 32. He was buried in Tacoma, Washington. Thoralf passed away in Ione, Washington, on March 6. Ione is not far from Ruby, Washington, north of Spokane, where Edward Gulleson had the logging camp from 1922 – ???. How did he die? I remember my mother saying something about him falling into a river and dying from pneumonia. We have the following newspaper clipping relating to his funeral:
“Funeral services for Thoralf Gulleson will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 from the C.O. Lynn Chapel with the Rev. O.J. Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the Tacoma Cemetery.”
Mrs. O.J. Edwards, the pastor’s wife, sang two solos: “Safe in the Arms of Jesus” and “There is a Home Eternal.” Edward and Anna (his second wife) Gulleson, John and Gudrun Lien, William and Sophie Kilde, Ansgar, Nelma and Jeffery were all at the funeral.
1928 – Death of Seselie Gulleson
Cecelia Gulleson took out U.S. Citizenship on May 14, 1892, at the age of 59. She was born November 29, 1832, and died on December 11, 1928. Her grave is in the Vining Lutheran Church Graveyard (Grave Number A-13401). She was 96 years old.

I am assuming that Ginny (Kilde Lease) is around five years old in this photo.

1941 – Death of Edward Gulleson
Newspaper Clipping: Funeral services for Edward Gulleson, 82, of Satsop, Washington, were held recently in Elma, Washington, where he died on March 9. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Anna of Seattle; three daughters, Mrs. John C. Lien, Mrs. William Kilde and Miss Nelma Gulleson of Tacoma; two sons, Jeffery of Satsop and Ansgar of Ruby, and 10 grandchildren.
Possibly taken at the time of Edward Gulleson’s funeral in 1941 in Satsop or Elma: Jeffery, Gudrun (Lien), Sophie (Kilde), Nelma, Ansgar.
